Why This Exists

We Built the Resource We Wished Our Clients Had

Every week in mortgage lending, the same conversation happens: a family has found the home they want, they're excited, they've saved for a down payment — and then the credit check comes back 40 points short of qualifying. The loan can't move forward.

Most of the time, that situation was avoidable. Had they known six months earlier what to open, what to pay down, and what not to do, they'd have been sitting at the closing table already.

BuildBetterCredit.org was built to be the resource we wish every one of those clients had found before they walked in the door.

The content on this site is developed by a licensed mortgage lending professional with 22 years of direct experience in financial services. We've processed thousands of loan applications, worked with borrowers across the full credit spectrum, and developed firsthand knowledge of what lenders look for.

We are not writing about credit improvement theoretically. We're writing about it from the perspective of the professional on the other side of the desk — the person who sees your full financial picture and knows exactly what needs to change for your loan to close.
